Skyrim Mzulft Observatory Puzzle

In Skyrim, the hero travels to Mzulft, a dwarven ruins, to find the Synod and then the location of the staff of Magnus. This will guide the hero in getting to Mzulft and then getting through the Mzulft entry area, the Mzulft boilery, the Mzulft aedome and finally getting to the Mzulft observatory or oculory. In the Mzulft observatory, the hero must solve the Mzulft observatory or oculory focusing lens puzzle to complete the Mzulft quest.

Skyrim Get to Mzulft and Through the Monsters in Mzulft

In Skyrim, the Mzulft area is really a classic dungeon crawl with lots of monsters as soon as the hero reaches and enters Mzulft. Mzulft is reached by going to Windhelm stables and then going southeast until Mzulft is reached. Enter Mzulft to find Gavros Plinius slumped and almost dead near the entrance of Mzulft. Speak to him and learn his quest to find his compatriot Paratus Decimius within the Mzulft observatory.

In Skyrim Mzulft, the hero must get past the monsters in Mzulft. The monsters in Mzulft include

Dwarven Spider Workers - these are annoying little creatures that crawl around the hero. Blast them away with some fire spells.

Dwarven Shields - these are deadly dwarven automations. Try to fight them from a distance and do not allow them to get too close to the hero.

Falmers - tactics for defeating the Falmers are discussed here. Essentially tackle them one at a time and there should be no problems.

Chaurus - these are centipede like creatures that can spray poison and hit for some damage. Do not let them get too close and definitely do not let them team up on the hero. Fight them one at a time, and if possible use a follower to tank the hero when fighting the Falmers and Chaurus.

In Skyrim Mzulft Aedome, the notable monster of note is the Falmer Gloomlurker. This Falmer holds the focusing Crystal Holidays for solving the Mzulft Oculory puzzle. This miniboss is found in a group of Falmers patrolling the Mzulft Aedome. The hero should use sneak to lure out the Falmers out of their group one at a time and then take them down. When attacking the Falmer Gloomlurker, try to take him out as fast as possible to minimize the Falmer Gloomlurker using magic on the hero.

Skyrim How to Solve the Mzulft Oculory Puzzle

In Skyrim, the hero enters the Mzulft Oculory by getting Paratus Decimus to unlock the door. The hero then must solve the Mzulft Oculory Puzzle and get Paratus Decimius to talk and reveal the location of the Staff of Magnus. First insert the focusing crystal into the Oculory Machine in the center and use the controls to activate the light. Then this video will show the hero the way to focus the lens and solve the Mzuflt Oculory Puzzle. In some PCs, the video card will give errors with the focusing light; use the other video to help you.

Once the skyrim oculory puzzle is solved, proceed to Winterhold to report to the archmage.
