Travelling with friends advantagesIn my opinion, it depends on the vacation's location and the duration.
If the vacation is at the beach, waterfalls, camping trip or a roller coaster ride, I would definitely choose to travel with my rowdy friends whom I can have amazing adventures, many exciting new things to discover, different knowledge to share with each other.
The best part is when some of us friends share the same interest in a certain topic.
We could have a load of great time to talk about during our travelling journey, never out of subject to talk about.
Nothing to hide, enjoy conversation and talk about travelling experiences, exchange tips and tricks to get the best travelling locations.
Create activities or events to play during the trip. Friends are more open and comical than family members.
Help each other through hard times, when encounter difficulties, get extra helping hands from great friends.

Benefits Of Having Funny FriendsIt would be wise to bring along those funny nature friends who could crack up jokes anytime, easy going behavior and always full of entertaining ideas to keep the travelling journey fun and happy.
Some of the travelling ideas would be create games, quizzes, and jokes to share, speak from individual experiences and chores to do so that everyone is involved and participate in every event.
I love to be with funny friends, very entertaining, full of laughter to brighten up my mood.
Friends could talk about our future, our dreams to pursue, our past memorable memories, our personal or family problems and our hidden secrets that had been locked away in our hearts for years.
Although we may not receive any favorable solutions or ideas, it is still great to share and voice out our feelings, get them out of our chest just for once.

Camping with friendsDo you prefer to camp with friends or your family? | Source

Disadvantages travelling with friendsBoring and quiet people could bring a long silence throughout the journey.
Encounter different opinions that might disagree in many aspects.
Test of friendship. If you meet someone who has a bad temper and non sociable, both of you may end up going separate ways at certain point ( separate food location or hotel )
Selfish friends may show his behavior and actions that would irritate you. While others just close an eye and carry one as if nothing happens.

Carry cash or credit card in handWould you prefer to carry cash or credit cards? | Source

More Disadvantages Travelling With FriendsThe only disadvantage to travel with friends is; each of us have to pay our own expenses; pay by Dutch.
Hence, it is wise to bring extra cash or credit card in case you need to buy more food, daily necessities, souvenirs and unexpected expenses that may crop up due to unforeseen problems

Travelling with your familyTravelling with your family can be fun too | Source

My Opinion:
I have 2 kids whom the age gap is quite far apart; the eldest is a teen while the younger is a pre-schooler. My preschooler boy is an active boy, often seen jumping up and down over something that is new to him and we adults had to be prepared for his unstoppable questions.

Hence, it is a challenging for him to explore new places, learn how to communicate in foreign language and learn the foreign cultures.

Both of them had fun learning how to say simple sentences such as "how are you?" "Hello", "Thank you" and surprisingly, younger generations have the ability to pickup new languages in the shortest time, compare to adults.

Travelling With My Family
If the vacation location is at the resort, sight-seeing foreign countries, a get-away trip to country side; it would be nice to travel with my loving family. These cozy vacation places are ideal for building up family bonds whether estranged or not.

A family get together during school holidays where kids, teens and adults could spend some quality time together, learn some new experiences and knowledge together. Kids are always eager to absorb lots of new things, widen their knowledge and most importantly, to have fun while learning.

Understanding what your family needsKnowing what gadgets could keep your kids entertained-Ipad! | Source

Advantages Of Travelling With My Family:It was an eye opener for us and the kids to experience new weather, food cuisines and the people behaviors.
Since parents know very well what the kids love to eat, bad habits or behavior and what they love to do when they are bored, it is easy to pacify their boredom with their favorite food, I pad or game gadgets to kill the time, listen to their favorite music and board games to keep them active, entertained and occupied at all times.
When travelling with family, kids don't have to pay for anything, parents is the "money tree".

The Best Reasons For Travelling With My Family are:
The advantage of travelling with family is we know each other's bad habits, need not have to feel embarrassed at all. If we are travelling with friends, I would be at my best behavior, keep my fart as long as I could before I release it to the wild. I am the "angel" among them!

I find we all try too hard to defer each other:
"What do you want to do?"
"It doesn't matter to me. It's all up to you."
"I want you to choose. Really!"
And back and forth. We spend more time trying to decide what to do than what we end up doing.  :)

thanks newjerusalem, some people prefer to travel alone because he need not consider the other party opinion and preferences.

Both options have the merits and demerits. I travel with family as well as with friends. I like both the experiences. I think we should enjoy both occasions. Some times we get opportunities -- may be official -- to go with friends only and in such occasions we have to enjoy the trip with friends. Always we can plan of our own to travel with family and enjoy the trip with them.
You have mentioned the points so clearly that any reader can understand the advantages. I met once a retired doctor traveller from Malaysia who does some exploration in travelling around the world. When I asked, " whom do you take in your trips?" He told me to my surprise, " I always travel alone" and also he explained the reasons for it.

I cannot afford to travel, so it would be nice to do it again. Travelling is a luxury when you have to focus on paying the bills. However, I live in Southern California, so there are so many wonderful outdoor opportunities, and one friend pointed out how many people pay money to go on trips here, so I am just trying to make the best of things locally. I think the ideas about doing stuff with friends can work with going on local hikes, which is what I have done with my friend. We then have gone to local Indian and Thai places, and this works with our budget.

I can honestly say that the best Crystal Holidays Travel I have had have been with my family. I love taking my son away and showing him new things. I think travelling with friends is rather touch and go. I have heard so many stories about how friendships and even relationships came to an end after a holiday!! Very odd. Happy holidays everyone! Don't forget to visit me for great responsible travel.:)

I can do both but I prefer to travel with family. It really depends where I go, for how long and with who. I guess I just love travelling regardless of who I go with!

true, going on a trip together you could discover the pros and cons on the trip itself

I always say one should go on a trip with a man/woman they're intending to marry before the decision to marry is made. A week traveling by public transportation or private vehicle will usually, at some point, cause people to set aside their best behavior and bring out the real person.

I like traveling with friends and family but it has to be on two separate occasions. I travelled with my family when I visited them Last January 2014 and hoping to see them again next year. Your hub is interesting and it shows the up and downs for traveling with friends or family. You got lovely photos as well. Thank you for sharing.

I used to have a neighbor who likened family/friends staying together as fish. She would state that the first day together is refreshing and glorious. The second day together is still good, but not as good as the first. By the third day she claimed they all started to stink and it was time to throw them out. Naturally, she was joking, although she makes a valid case for spending too much time together regardless whether they are friends or family.

what happened to your greece holiday?

Giovanna

Traveling with young kids isn't easy but it opens doors -people in Europe adore children so we found that we talked to more people. It's a bit like traveling with a dog -other dog lovers say hello! I lost a couple of friends after a holiday in Greece year and years ago - that was a stark warning! make sure you really are on the same wavelength. Great hub. Shared.

I haven't traveled with friends in a long time. My family is generally great to travel with. My kids always found ways to keep themselves occupied on long journeys. The youngest would sleep and the oldest would look at maps and ask questions. My wife would frequently kick me or pinch me to keep me awake. Great hub!

You do make great arguments for traveling with friends but if I had to choose I would say I would rather travel with family. To tell the truth what seems to work for us is to travel with family and friends at the same time.

Great hub peachpurple.... You are absolutely right that it depends on the location and duration of the vacation that decides whether we should go with friends or family. I love to travel a lot and I'll say that both experiences are different: friends and family. I prefer going to a crazy location with my friends and some peaceful place with my family... what's your idea?

I think places like Disneyland are fun with families and other adventure-type travels are more fun with friends. Either way, it's much more fun (and less dangerous) to travel in a group. Enjoyed your viewpoints.

I tried both and it can be fun in both cases! And as EpBooks mentioned, it's better when the group whit which you travel has the same interests otherwise, the trip will feel quite long!

[ ]Elizabeth Parker

I could travel with either friends or family, as long as they have the same interests that I do. I've traveled with people who are completely different, and that makes the entire trip stressful.
